Cricket Teams at Stand Cricket Club | Greater Manchester

We’re a very friendly, social sports club running 3 senior cricket teams, 3 junior age group teams, and a softball ladies team.

The club joined as a founder member of the Greater Manchester Cricket League in 2016 moving from the Lancashire County Cricket League.
During the time with the GMCL, the 1st XI have won their respective league three times, and the 2nd XI have also established themselves within the pyramid system.
Further to this, our 3rd XI were champions of their Sunday League division in 2019 and were runners up in 2023.
2024 saw the 1st XI winning the GMCL Championship and gaining promotion back to the GMCL Prem 2.

The club offers cricket facilities at our picturesque Hamilton Road facility. The past few seasons have seen investment in nets and training equipment, sight screens, an electronic scoreboard and changing rooms. Funded by the club and grants from Valencia Community Fund, Sport England and the National Lottery Community Trust. Following a phenomenal first year, our ladies team are looking for new players of all ages and abilities.

1st XI

The Stand CC first eleven has produced a number of 1st class players, including our most famous – Warren Hegg who played for Lancashire County Cricket Club and England. In 2024, our 1st XI will be captained by Dave Farmer, and supported by our professional Majid Majeed.

The first team will be participating in the GMCL Premier League Two 2025.

2nd XI

Taking part in the Stand Cricket Club 2nd XI GMCL Division 5 West 2025, the Stand CC 2nd team provides a link between the 3rd team and 1st team for younger players developing their game. A mix of experience and youth means we are proud to have a number of 17-18 year olds featuring heavily during the season.

After winning the 2019 division our 3rd team has given opportunities for multiple junior players who now form the core of the 3rd team squad. A blend of youth and experience, the team finished 3rd last season. Hopefully they will go one more in 2025!

The current holders of the GMCL20 Championship Cup, Stand CC mixes 1st and 2nd teams players in with opportunities for U18s players to have their first taste of first team cricket.

Junior cricket

Stand Juniors welcome all children from the age of 6 to 16 to join us. Our ethos is one of enjoyment and participation.

The Junior Eagles develop our younger players in the basics of the game, so that they are ready to represent the club in the GMCL Under 11s competition by the time they are in schools years 4, 5 and 6.

We also have teams competing in the GMCL league at U9s, U11s and U13s age groups.
