As the 2026 cricket season draws to a close, it’s fair to say it hasn’t ended quite as we would have hoped. Both our 1st XI and 2nd XI suffered relegation, and while that’s disappointing for everyone involved, cricket has a habit of delivering both highs and lows. We’ll regroup over the winter, learn from the season and come back determined to be stronger in 2027.
But the story of the season is about much more than league positions. Our Ladies enjoyed another positive year, finishing mid-table, while junior cricket has continued to thrive. One of the real highlights was our Girls Tournament, which brought teams together in a fantastic atmosphere and showed just how quickly girls’ cricket is developing at Stand. For many of our girls it was their first experience of playing competitively together, and the progress they made across the day was brilliant to see.
Saturday evening gave us the opportunity to bring everyone together for our Junior and Senior Player Presentations, recognising performances and achievements from across the club and, just as importantly, celebrating everyone who has represented Stand throughout the year.
A huge thank you must also go to our coaches, volunteers, ground staff, sponsors, parents, members and supporters. From getting teams onto the field every weekend to running training sessions, maintaining the ground and supporting events throughout the year, the club simply couldn’t operate without you.
The cricket may be coming to an end, but things certainly don’t stop at Stand. We’ve got plenty happening at the club throughout the autumn and winter, so keep an eye on the website and our socials for what’s coming next.
Here’s to 2027.
